One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish
Dr. Seuss on JWMGC team selection
And then you become a Fantail and have to skull a jug
Former Falcon Drewes Clues famously quoted in 2022 “A champion team will always beat a team of champions” when he was dropped by the Falcons into new feeder team the Fantails. The team that he was referring to was the magnificent Magpies. A team with no good golf players, but one who found a way to win time and time again even whilst wearing ridiculous golfing outawear. Clues was also in contention for the individual trophy in 2022, devoid of a team to support him as part of Long Strokes initiative to create a feeder team.
“It was tough. I wasn’t able to participate in the famous Pita Hunt Falcon huddle. I was on the outer of a team that I gave 9 of the best years of my life. I only wore Blue. No disrespect for the Fantails but they’re just a bunch of cocks.”
Clues frustration was understandable as he had written songs, and played for 9 years in the worst team in Woodpecker history that thought that they were the best.
“They’re delusional. All the talk was about how much money I made and what model Range Rover I drove. I had to miss 2023 due to a wedding and in 2024 I finally earned a Falcon polo after 10 years service but was sent to the Swans – and finally won the Kauri. It’s hard being in and out of a team – just ask Muftit. Now though, it’s super cool to be a Fantail and try and win the Cock. The best trophy in golf.”

“You have to ask yourself. Why does The Cock trophy get polished like it’s just walked out of a trophy shop, yet the Johnny Woodpecker trophy looks like someone found it in dumpster outside an opshop. No one has polished it for years. Everyone now wants to be a cock. There’s a cap, a t-shirt and other cool merch and at the end of the tournament you get a free jug of beer. The trophy looks great anywhere in the house and doesn’t look like something you won at the RSA for being the last man standing.
The Cock is where it’s at and it’s only going to get bigger and harder.
To win.
