The action came quick and fast minutes after new Falcons captain Red Wood made Pond his first selection for the Falcons team at this year’s Hikuai hoe-down. Wood’s bold move caught the other skippers sleeping and rumours quickly began to circulate about the training regime Pond might have been on.

Wood has been reluctant to comment on suggestions that legendary coach Mal Tongue has been flying on private jets to the Golf Course to secretly train Pond in a bid to make him the first cock-to-champ in JWMGC history.
Wood: “Look everyone saw how effective McSofty’s sudden form showed up in the ‘Tron so the formula isn’t exactly top secret. And, yes, the Falcons do have a culture of throwing money at everything but that’s just because we’ve got so much of it.”

TAB consultant Butch Rooks says they had no other option and had to suspend betting given the size of the investments.
Rooks: “When you’ve got an outsider with odds of a million to one and there’s suddenly seven figure investments on the donkey you have to sound the siren and advise punters to hold all tickets.”
Falcons elder Pita Hunt said the Pond move has forced people to re-think the team odds and says it’s put to bed any questions about the move to replace the team’s most successful captain for the ’25 campaign.

Swans strategist Dean Sure wouldn’t be drawn on how the defending champs will look to react and released a simple media statement (below).
